Privacy Policy
Effective October 6, 2026 · Last updated October 6, 2026
The short version: LightCue doesn't collect your personal data. At all.
- No account, no sign-up, and nothing to log in to.
- No analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs in the app.
- The app never connects to the internet. It talks only to your lights, over Bluetooth.
This policy explains how the LightCue iPhone app (“LightCue”, “the app”) and the website at lightcue.app handle information. LightCue is made by Sky Blue Sofa (“we”, “us”).
01What we collect
Nothing. We don't collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal information through LightCue. The app has no servers to send data to: it has no networking code and makes no internet connections. Everything described below stays on your device unless you choose to move it.
02What stays on your iPhone
To remember your setup between launches, LightCue saves the following in its own private storage on your iPhone. We never see it.
| Information | Why it's kept |
|---|---|
| Your lights' Bluetooth identifiers and advertised names | To recognize and reconnect to lights you've already added |
| Nicknames and location notes you give your lights | To show the names you chose, such as “Desk (Office)” |
| Each light's last power, color and brightness | To restore a light's state when it reconnects |
| Your saved colors and scenes | So you can reuse them |
| App settings (default color, fade time) | To remember your preferences |
Deleting LightCue from your iPhone deletes all of this.
03Bluetooth
LightCue asks for Bluetooth permission so it can find and control your lights. It uses Bluetooth only for that. While scanning, it ignores every device that isn't a compatible light and doesn't record anything about them. LightCue does not use Bluetooth to determine your location.
LightCue can stay connected to your lights in the background so Siri and Shortcuts can control them while the app is closed. You can turn Bluetooth access off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth.
04Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight
LightCue makes actions like “Apply Scene” and “Turn Off All Lights” available to Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight and the Action button. To do that, it shares your scene names with iOS on your device, so they can appear as options.
If you use Siri, your voice request is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. LightCue receives only the resulting action, for example which scene to apply. It never receives your voice or what you said.
05Export and device backups
Export. In Settings, you can export your colors and scenes as a file. LightCue creates the file and opens the iOS share sheet; you decide where it goes (Files, AirDrop, email, and so on). Once shared, that copy is handled by whatever service you chose.
Import. When you import a backup file, LightCue reads only the file you pick.
iCloud and computer backups. Like most apps, LightCue's on-device data may be included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backups, depending on your settings. Those backups are managed by Apple and by you, not by us.
06Crash reports from Apple
If you've turned on Share With App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us anonymized crash reports and basic usage statistics through App Store Connect. Apple doesn't identify you to us, and we use these only to fix bugs. You can turn this off at any time in the same place.
07This website
lightcue.app is a static site. It uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no embedded third-party content; even the fonts are served from this site.
Like any web server, our hosting provider may automatically record standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time) to operate and secure the service. We don't use these logs to identify or track visitors.
08Children
LightCue collects no personal information from anyone and is suitable for all ages, including children under 13.
09Changes to this policy
If LightCue ever changes how it handles information, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above before the change takes effect. If a future version were to collect any personal data, we'd say so clearly here and in the App Store listing first.
